Today we’d like to introduce you to Fritts Mosshart.

Fritts, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2010, I was attending East Central University in Ada, OK, I was a very dedicated athlete playing club soccer and bodybuilding. During those times, I was very avid in taking supplements and realized I was overpaying for subpar products and figured I could do better. Wrote a business plan and left it in a file on my laptop and forgot about it. 2012 I was a competitive cross fitter, working as a semi- sponsored athlete for a supplement company. I went through my laptop files and came across my business plan and realized that it was a dream I wanted to pursue it and went about saving money then about five years later I was working as a CrossFit coach at El Jefe CrossFit in Peoria and the owner of the place was a very motivated business owner and always taking risks and I aspired to be like her, took a risk of my own, sold my garage gym and the money I made from the sale coupled with my savings started my first supplement business, Apex Predator Nutrition, which failed about a year later.

Down but not calling it quits, I got a 9-5 job as a manager of a group home, saved up more money and started a new business, PR supplement, this time determined not to repeat my mistake, I searched for a team that would work great together and ensures this business succeeded. We are now past our one year mark and going strong!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road! I am Deaf, so it was a challenge picking up information from my peers, competitors and mentors but the years I was working with a supplement company, as a rep and as an athlete, definitely helped me learn but most of it was trial and error that I had to learn on my own. Basically a trial by fire if you will.

One of the hardest challenges is this business is 100% funded by my own money that I put into the business which taught me to take calculated risks, to keep my chin up when I made mistakes and to keep my heart from stopping when I get certain invoices or bills!!! I’m also a family man that depends on me to ensure financial security. Another of my struggles was getting the respect of my peers when they realized that I was a Deaf business owner of a young company, but I’ve been working hard and the respect I have, I earned.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about PR supplement – what should we know?
PR supplement is an E-commerce business. We do business directly with customers via our website. PR supplement is a supplement & lifestyle brand. We are in the business of promoting a healthy lifestyle. A never say die attitude! The company’s name is a play on words. For example PR, which means Performance & Recovery but it also means “PRs” which in athletic and gym terms means” Personal Records”. “You Perform, You Recover,& You Break PRs Along the Way.” We specialize in nutritional and dietary supplements that help you Perform and Recover at a much affordable price. We don’t just sell supplements. We also help ensure that our customers understand and embrace that its not just a diet change that helps them but a complete lifestyle change.

What we are most proud of and what sets us apart from others is that we are the very first supplement brand company that is Deaf owned. In our community there are no others that have set foot in this industry, so we are very proud to be trailblazers.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My biggest supporter from day one has always been the mother of my children, Talitia. She held me up when I was down and doubted myself and my capabilities. She always was no-nonsense and gave it to me straight and kept me grounded when I would lose myself. Jed Barish for his great perspectives and advice. Mark T.- for being patient with me, taking a HUGE chance on me & teaching me his wisdom. Now I cannot leave out my teammates, Joshua Dalton and Brian Cornwell, Richard Nichols, without them PR wouldn’t function right at all! Somone Wilder (Former owner of El Jefe Crossfit) for inspiring me to risk it all and go for it. Peter Masforroll for taking a chance on me and helping me learn the ropes. Last and definitely not least, the Deaf community for continually supporting us.
